Dive into the passion...

Bio

I was born in Toronto, Canada in 1981, into a loving Greek family, the western sign of Leo and eastern sign of the Metal rooster.  As is common in recent years, my parents seperated, giving me the blessing and the curse of becoming a traveller. As I found myself a long way from either parent or my grandparents at various stages in my life, travel became a steady part of my life. I can remember clearly being 5 years old, on a plane, travelling alone, with my passport around my neck, and feeling wonderfully happy doing so.

By the age of 10, I had been to 3 different schools, in Canada and in Greece. I stayed in Athens from then till I graduated high school, though I had travelled a bit in that time. Once I graduated, I made another move. This time to the UK, where college and a rollercoaster of experiences awaited me, along with the chance to visit more of Europe, and the love affair of my life.. my camera.

All these things have contributed to the creation of a wordly, stubborn, creative, wild yet conservative, free, emotional, opinionated individual.

Though always with a camera in hand, it never really occured to me that it was a passion. It was so close to the things that came naturally, like breathing, eating, sleeping...

In college, I discovered the true meaning of photography, through the eyes of a wonderfull teacher. The darkroom became my haven, my little creative retreat. And while my fellow students became engrossed in paints, pencils, sculpting and design, I would hide for hours in the darkroom, or wander the streets of London, Paris, Athens, Amsterdam or Barcelona. And believe me when I tell you, it takes a lot longer with a camera lens attached to your eye.. though the views are so much more spectacular.

Depression, rebellion, desire to leave negativity behind, pushed me to make the move back to my birthplace, Ontario, Canada. And that reopened doors, windows, horizons for me..

In recent years I rediscovered this passion, this love, and it is wonderful to be able to share it. It's a joy to find new people, places, objects, animals to photograph. The lens truly becomes a bridge, a connection that would otherwise not exist.

So, here I sit, starting a new fase, finding a new audience...  And I am so looking forward to this new adventure.

I must say thank you to my mother, my ma, the woman who always told me I could do anything.  I was recently very lucky to be able to share my photographs with her. The pride in her eyes said it all...

And to my love, the man that reminded me how easy it is to fall in love with photography again. The person that has supported me through my moments of selfdoubt... thank you angel. I love you.
